Your body knows how to be: before the gripping, or bracing, and before it learned to hold so much. In this 6-Session Series, I will guide you back to that natural ease, where movement begins to feel more fluid and your breath feels spacious again.

As a Certified Yoga Therapist and Licensed Massage Therapist, I love sharing these potent Somatic practices that support the nervous system shifting out of stress patterns. Studies prove that static stretching does not create lasting flexibility, and can actually tighten you more, and even cause injury.

In Somatic Melting, we move slowly and with awareness, listening to the body, and allowing layers of holding to loosen without force. This supports easing pain, improving mobility, and helping your body move with greater efficiency and flow.

In Somatic Melting, I guide you back into relationship with your own body, where the intelligence of your tissues begins to speak again.

Over time, the body can lose the memory of how to release certain muscles and engage others, often from stress, injury, or long-held patterns. You’ll begin to reshape new and better movement habits, bringing your body into alignment with less effort.

Research shows that somatic practices reduce chronic pain, improve mobility, and deepen body awareness, creating real shifts in how you experience your body day to day. As tension melts, many people notice more comfort in their joints, fuller breathing, and a steadier emotional rhythm. There is often a feeling of returning home to yourself.

Your Body Can Finally Let Go to Remember Freedom 

As we work in this way, areas of overuse begin to soften, while places that have been neglected start to awaken, strengthen, and move again. This is not about fixing anything. It is a return to a body that remembers how to move, breathe, and live with ease.

Jennifer Reis is senior faculty of Kripalu Center and the Kripalu Schools with 30 years of yoga teaching experience. She is the creator of both Five Element Yoga® and Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra, is a Certified Yoga Therapist C-IAYT, and Liscensed Massage Therapist LMT.
